The twelve separate stones of this piece are arranged along the arc of a Golden Spiral from the central 3 part piece, "SUN" through the 9 planets out to "PLUTO". The Golden Rectangle that mathematically determines the maximum size of the Spiral is, in this case 50 feet by 30.9 feet. Also the stones symbolize the signs of the Zodiac and the complete work is called "Ring Around the Roses".Stones in the series represent human figures falling down as each depicts different parts of the body, together making for a nearly complete androgynous human form. The relationship between the falling figurative forms and the symbolism of the planets and also the Zodiac is of the order: part to part; part to whole; and whole to the sum of its parts.
